Business Continuity Plan

As discussed in our last Freight & Trade Committee meeting, one of the greatest challenges we face in developing a port-wide Continuity of Operations Plan is the large number of businesses who have no Business Continuity Plan.  This plan is critical in helping a business recover from any type of disaster.  The attached sample Business Continuity Plan is a very basic document to assist in gathering critical information to ensure personnel, physical, and information security and reconstitution in the event of a disaster. This document will help you create your own Business Continuity Plan after answering a few simple questions and will take only 15 minutes to complete.

Strategic Priority

The success of our port relies on the efficient landside movement of cargos to and from our port facilities.  That movement depends on proper cargo documentation and compliance with import/export and other Federal regulations.  The critical port stakeholders who manage these freight and trade issues are an integral part of the Marine Transportation System.  The JMTX will:

· Sponsor a Freight and Trade Committee to provide an open communication and information sharing forum for Custom Broker and Freight Forwarder stakeholders and regulatory agencies.  The Committee will seek efficiencies and improvements in the compliant movement of freight.
